Plateau: Miyatti Allah, Berom Youths Clash Over Killing of Three Herders

The Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed shock over the killing of three herders, reportedly by Berom youths, on Thursday night along the Dorowa-Jong road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

However, the national president of Berom Youths Moulders (BYM), Barrister Solomon Dalyop, denied the allegations, insisting that the Berom community, like other ethnic groups in the region, does not have “killer groups.”

He added that Fulani herdsmen have become a national concern due to attacks and terrorism, and accused MACBAN of circulating what he called “sensational messages.”

“I call on relevant authorities to monitor Miyetti Allah and its members to ensure accountability for any attacks on our people,” Dalyop said.

The victims, identified as Tahiru Muhammad, Jibrin Salisu, and Abdulmumin Isyak, were reportedly ambushed while riding motorcycles home in Jong community after attending a Qur’an Tafsir session in Dorowa.

MACBAN, through its state chairman Yusuf Babayo, said it believed members of the Berom community were responsible for the attack, citing a history of violence against their members.

“Our people are being targeted and killed with impunity. We condemn this act in the strongest terms and call on authorities to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Babayo stated.

He also noted that security agencies in Barkin Ladi had visited the scene and urged MACBAN members to remain calm and law-abiding while allowing authorities to handle the investigation.
