Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of renowned director Dimbo Atiya.
Dimbo Atiya reportedly died on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026. The news was announced by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), in a post shared on Instagram.
Oloketuyi confirmed the filmmaker’s death while stating that further details would be released later.
“Dimbo Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later,” he wrote.

Reacting to the heartbreaking news, Nollywood actor Mofe Duncan also expressed his shock and grief over the filmmaker’s passing.
Sharing a photo of Dimbo Atiya on Instagram, Duncan wrote: “God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds of the entertainment industry.”
